Something many people may notice with "PRO orders, or Industry discounts", is that shipping tends to cost more than what we would normally see as consumers buying online. This is pretty standard while getting a great deal off on gear.
So how does the shipping rate factor into this?
The prices of shipping for PRO orders or what we as "Insiders" see are almost always going to be higher than a full-priced retail order. Normally they are able to help with paying all of, or most of, the fees that full-price purchases (general consumer) with the margin that they have on those orders. With the discount that our partners offer, it's pretty difficult for them to cut the rates that they would incur on shipping out orders.
The main factors that affect shipping prices vary depending on the item, quantity, weight & dimensions, and distance away from the brand's shipping location. Often brands will have to go by the Dim and Weight based on the size of the packaging used. This is monitored closely with all shipping carriers, and again, the fees are usually covered when the items are placed at full price (margin). It also depends on the Carrier Contract the Brand has with shipping as well.
Some brands choose to set PRO orders with a flat rate fee that is updated often, to ensure you as Insiders are getting the best rate you can for the market, without them losing too much margin. It's a generous way to help dial you in and still manage to cover general costs.
I have seen some insane savings on items where the shipping wasn't terrible, and I have also chosen not to get an item because the shipping cost was a set rate. I would have benefitted from purchasing more items for the shipping to meet my needs but I did not need more than what I planned to order at that time.
Like other PRO purchase websites, brands will occasionally offer up discounted or even free shipping on top of the free discounts we are getting with a PRO Deal. This is at their own discretion, and usually, they do this around the Holidays, or sometimes when they launch a new product. Make sure you are signed up with our email newsletter to stay up to date with current promotions from brands for deeper discounts, and the occasional discounted shipping.
