Purchasing a firearm through Guidefitter requires a few extra steps, given that federal law requires that firearms be shipped to the holder of a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL) and not directly to the end purchaser of the firearm. However, the process is very straightforward.
- Select the model and caliber you want, and add to the cart
- Proceed to check out
- Select a local business that holds a valid FFL where you would like the firearm to be shipped, such as a local sporting goods store that sells firearms. We provide a list of valid FFL holders in your local area during the checkout process.
- Proceed with payment
Once the order is placed and confirmed, it will then be automatically sent to the brand for fulfillment. The brand partner will ship the firearm to the local FFL holder you selected, and the local FFL holder will contact you when the firearm is available for pickup.
When you go to the local FFL holder to pick up the firearm, you will be required to complete ATF Form 4473 and undergo the routine FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), as you would normally do when purchasing a firearm.
Also, please note that the local FFL holder will likely require you to pay an FFL handling fee, which can be somewhere between $25 - $80 on average, but this is determined by the local FFL business and not by Guidefitter nor by our brand partners.
